THINGS TO DO IN DETROIT

The Detroit RiverWalk follows the river from Cobo Conference-Exhibition Center, GM Renaissance Center and beyond.
Make time to visit where the Motown sound was created at Hitsville U.S.A. , a house museum where Steve Wonder, Smoky Robinson, Diana Ross and others honed their talent. Or make your way to Eastern Market, Detroit’s open air marketplace featuring fresh goods from farmers and nursery’s and enjoy landmark restaurants like the 100 plus year old Roma Café.
Sport Stadiums
There’s plenty of sports action in downtown Detroit: Ford Field is the home of the Detroit Lions; Comerica Park is home base for the Detroit Tigers; Joe Louis Arena on Detroit’s riverfront is were all the Red Wing hockey fans gather.
Casino Action
Greektown, one of the city’s most popular downtown neighborhoods hosts several restaurants, bakeries and the Greektown Casino with plenty of gaming action and entertainment. Detroit Institute of Arts
Detroit’s Cultural Center is just three miles down Woodward Avenue is the home of the Detroit Institute of Arts (DIA). The DIA reopened in November 2007 with expanded galleries and a fresh approach to displaying collections to make the fine arts exciting for all ages. The DIA also offers a museum shop, restaurants and is home to the Detroit Film Theatre, Brunch with Bach and other public events.
Cultural Center
The Cultural Center also includes the New Detroit Science Center, The Museum of African American Art, Detroit Historical Museum, International Institute and the Detroit Public Library overlooking the Wayne State University campus.
Entertainment District
Located within walking distance from Comerica Park and Ford Field. The Detroit Symphony Orchestra makes its home at the stunning Max Fisher Center for the Performing Arts. The Detroit Opera House, also known as the Michigan Opera House, features a full season of opera and special performances of dance, theatre and major entertainers. The Music Hall Center for the Performing Arts has a full season of international and national dance concerts. The fabulous Fox Theatre is the showcase for major entertainers, musicals and special attractions for all ages. The Fillmore is the site for contemporary music and performances. A few miles down Woodward Avenue at Grand Boulevard is the Fisher Theatre.

Greenfield Village, located within multi-acre complex, is filled with the original homes and shops of famous Americans including Thomas Edison’s Menlo Park. The Henry Ford now offers tours of the Ford Motor Company River Rouge Assembly Plant.

Tours and events are available at the Edsel & Eleanor Ford House in Grosse Pointe; Fair Lane, home of Henry and Clara Ford in Dearborn; Meadowbrook, the Dodge estate in Oakland County; and Fisher Mansion in Detroit.
